I have been wanting to update our office pretty much since they day we moved in. It has always been "Neil's office" since he was working from home full time when we first moved here, so I have always left it to him. He took a new job towards the end of last year and is now working out of the house full time, so now I really want to give it an update! Our office is right off of the foyer and is one of the first rooms you see when you enter our home. Right now it's pretty lacking and is more functional than pretty. The current furniture consists of a desk, a bookcase, a small filing cabinet, and a chair that haunts my dreams. I wanted this to be an "update" not a total overhaul, so I am planning to use all the existing furniture, except that damn chair! I also wanted to keep a gender neutral feel in the room even though I now use it far more than Neil does. The masculine furniture mixed with more feminine accents like the gold light fixture and soft curtains create a great balance between the two and I think we will both be very comfortable working here.
I created a design board for the first time when I put together Drake's nursery and it is a game changer! It really helps you to see the full space and get an idea of how all the pieces will work together before you commit to them. Also, I feel like I should note that these may not be the exact products that I end up using. I will be doing some bargain hunting to see if I can score any "looks for less" and already have some of these items (desk, floor lamp) in my home. I had so much fun putting together this office design board and I can't wait to get started on the project!
